Judith Sleppy Ladner Demko

Judith Sleppy Ladner Demko, 81, of San Jose, passed away at Belmont Village on December 17th, 2021 after a courageous 12 years battle with Parkinson’s disease. 

The daughter of George Sleppy and wife Mary, she was born on April 9, 1940, in Dayton, Ohio and grew up in Lafayette, Colorado.  She had an amazing, loving marriage to Michael Demko from 1986 to 2012.  They adored each other as they shared their lives with their daughter Amber. Michael was a Principal and Judy was an Assistant Superintendent in Education.  They loved their life together traveling, visiting their timeshare in Hawaii, and moving to their home in Los Gatos until Mike’s passing in 2012.  Judith was a consummate educator, holding many roles during her career in Silicon Valley.  She served the children and provided leadership to the teachers of Santa Clara County with honor. She was Past President of the Assistance League of San Jose, an officer in the state ACSA administrator’s association, and on the Board of Directors of Santa Teresa YMCA, among other duties and honors. She served Oak Grove School District as Assistant Superintendent for years.  She also taught aspiring administrators as adjunct Professor at Santa Clara University and San Jose State University.

She enjoyed life, had a great sense of humor, and found the good in every situation and every person.  She loved her family dearly and was very kind, generous and loving to Amber and Christina.  She adored dinners out with her daughter and friends at Belmont Village, Bridge with her close friends, Bingo (she was the star) and going to the movies.  She enjoyed cruising with her friends and cruised the Panama Canal five years ago with her daughter Amber. She was a devoted member of the Almaden Hills United Methodist Church and donated the stain glass windows in the Sanctuary there in memory of her beloved late husband Michael.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents, husband Michael Demko; and brother Robert Sleppy. Judy is survived by her brother Don Sleppy, both her daughters, Amber and Christina Cato and her children, Andre and Dylan, her step-son William Demko and his son Michael  Demko and daughter Jacqueline Demko, and deceased brother Robert Sleppy’s sons Robert, Steven, and daughter Terri Sleppy.
